Enola Gay crew, authentic autographed 8 x 10 photograph, hand signed by pilot Paul Tibbets (February 23, 1915 – November 1, 2007), bombadier Thomas Ferebee (November 9, 1918 – March 16, 2000) and navigator Theodore "Dutch" Van Kirk (February 27, 1921 – July 28, 2014) from the historic World War II Hiroshima mission.
The Enola Gay, named for Tibbets' mother, was the first aircraft to drop an atomic bomb in the history of warfare on the city of Hiroshima, Japan. The attack on Hiroshima and the subsequent bombing of Nagasaki, which remain the only use of nuclear weapons for warfare in history, served to avoid a costly invasion of the Japanese mainland and facilitated the end of the War.
Fine condition.
