George Foster Shepley

George Foster Shepley (January 1, 1819 - July 20, 1878), American Civil War Union General, original 1800s Carte-de-visite photograph. Published by E. & H.T. Anthony from a Mathew Brady negative.

Shepley was appointed military and 18th Governor of Louisiana by General Benjamin Butler in June 1862. He later served as a United States federal judge.

Approximately 2.5 x 4 inches in size, this Carte-de-visite photograph is in good condition, aside from a slight touch of expected aging.
