John L. Worden

John Lorimer Worden (March 12, 1818 – October 19, 1897), Civil War Union Navy Rear Admiral, original Carte-de-visite photograph​.  Published by J.O. Kane of New York.

In 1862, Worden commanded the ironclad ship, Minnesota, directing the attack against the Confederate vessel, Virginia, leading the groundbreaking battle between steam-driven ships, armored ships that revolutionized naval warfare.

Approximately 2.5 x 4 inches in size, this Carte-de-visite photograph is in good condition, aside from a slight touch of expected aging and clipped lower corners.
