Walter Elias "Walt" Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966), American business magnate and pioneer in various Entertainment fields, authentic, autographed original Courvoisier color cel set-up from the classic 1945 film "The Three Caballeros." The cell measures 7.5" x 8.5" in and is matted to 14" x 14.5", as prepared by the Walt Disney Studio.
As an animator and entrepreneur, Disney was particularly noted as a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design, most notably with his creations of the Walt Disney Company and Disneyland in California, and later with Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
The cel is from “The Cold-Blooded Penguin” segment of the film, during which the narrator (Sterling Holloway) tells Donald Duck the story of Pablo, a penguin who decides to leave the South Pole and head north towards South America to a warmer climate.
The matte has been signed “To Donna Jane / Best Wishes / Walt Disney” in blue crayon. Written on the matte in another hand at lower left edge beneath image, now virtually indiscernible, is “From Three Caballeros.” Between the actual cel and Disney’s signed inscription are clearly, but faintly written, in an unknown hand, “original” and, within a small circle, “WD / P” (Walt Disney Productions).
The signed matte is browned at the edges, otherwise in fine condition.
