Vintage 8x10 Photograph
$150.00 - Product is currently out of stock.
Jack Dempsey (June 24, 1895 – May 31, 1983), classic heavyweight boxing champion of the world, original matted vintage 8x10 photograph, depicting Dempsey and gambling kingpins Bill Graham and Jim McKay, who owned the Willows nightclub in Reno.
The legendary boxer Jack Dempsey befriended Max Baer after Baer killed a man in the ring in 1930, an event which devastated Baer. The Baer-Uzcudun fight the year that followed only solidified their friendship. Dempsey promoted Baer in the fight. Although Baer lost, Dempsey had nothing but respect for him afterward due to Baer’s willingness to take a brutal beating from Paolino Uzcudun in 110-degree heat. This photograph shows Dempsey flanked by Reno nightclub owners Bill Graham and Jim McKay, who considered him a favorite. “‘Curly Bill’ Graham — Jack Dempsey — Jim (the Cinch) McKay Promoting the Baer-Uzcudun Fight in Reno May 1931” neatly written on mat.
Near fine condition with slight creasing, tape around edges of photograph on verso.
