William Frederick Dix

William Frederick Dix (November 18, 1867 - September 10, 1945), American author, editor and Consul General, autographed vintage handwritten quotation (AQS). A graduate of Princeton, Dix formed a lasting relationship with then president of the University, Woodrow Wilson. This relationship would inspire President Woodrow's appointment of Dix as Consul General in New York to Montenegro in 1918. Also an accomplished author, Dix published three novels, "The Face in the Girandole," "The Lost Princess" and "Daphne of the Forest," and was one of the founding editors of The Home Journal, later named Town and Country.

Extracted from the pages of a 1902 Autograph Calendar book recovered from Orange Memorial Hospital, New Jersey, Cushing added the following quote to a page with the printed date of May 13: "'Scientific facts have never reached their proper function until they merge into new poetic relations established between...man and Nature.' Sidney Lanier.," signing above the quotation, "William Frederick Dix."

Measuring approximately 7.75 x 5, this autographed quotation is in overall fine condition, with light toning and a rough left edge from extraction.
