Etienne Jacques Joseph Alexandre Macdonald, 1st Duke of Taranto (17 November 1765 - 7 September 1840), Marshal of France and military leader, authentic, autographed document (DS). This one page document is approximately 8" x 12" in size and is dated September 19, 1817. It is written on official stationery of MacDonald's. 

The document is accompanied by a handsome engraved print of MacDonald. The print is approximately 4" x 6" in size and affixed to a larger piece of paper. The print is in very good condition. 

MacDonald was a military leader during both the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. He was presented with the Sabre of Murad bey for his fidelity to Napoleon Bonaparte. At the Bourbon Restoration, he was made a Peer of France and remained faithful to the new order under King Louis XVIII during the Hundred Days. In 1815, he was made Chancellor of the Legion of Honour.

This untranslated document is crisply signed at the conclusion by MacDonald. It is in good to very good condition, with overall light toning not affecting the signature. There are scattered creases,expected intersecting folds and a slightly frayed left margin.
