Jean-Antoine Chaptal (4 June 1756 - 30 July 1832), French chemist and statesman, authentic, autographed document (DS). This one page document measures approximately 8" x 12" in size and is dated May 19, 1804.

Chaptal was a well known French chemist. He established chemical works for manufacture of mineral acids, soda and other substances. He is considered to have coined the word "nitrogen". Chaptal also served as the Minister of Internal Affairs (1800 - 1804). During this time, he created the Paris Hospital, health council and other public bodies.

This one page, untranslated document is crisply signed by Chaptal at the conclusion. It is in good to very good condition, with overall light toning not affecting the signature. The document contains some scattered creases and expected intersecting folds.
