Father Edward J. Flanagan (July 13, 1886 - May 15, 1948), notable American Catholic priest, authentic, autographed vintage typed letter (TLS), dated September 17, 1940. Flanagan founded the orphanage known as Boys Town in Nebraska to help in his quest to assist homeless and troubled boys. A film based on Flanagan's life, 1938's "Boys Town", earned an Academy Award for actor Spencer Tracy's classic portrayal of the famous priest.
In the letter Flanagan is thanking a "Mrs. Fred Hadley" of Sioux City, Iowa for a card she sent in reference to a vist to Boys Town. The letter measures approximately 8.5 x 11 inches in size and is is signed in blue ink.
Fine vintage condition with light overall even toning and a few wrinkes to the right edge.
