Colonel Maximiano de Brito Merida, Portuguese military officer, authentic, autographed annotated letter (ALS). This one page letter, measures approximately 7" x 9" in size and is dated October 27, 1811. 

This remarkable military letter from Colonel Maximiano de Brito Merida to British General Rowland Hill, 1st Viscount Hill, was written at the height of the Portuguese campaign under Lord Wellington during the Napoleonic Wars. This important letter gives detailed reports of information brought by spies. 

This fully translated letter is crisply signed at the conclusion by Maximiano. It is in good to very good condition, with overall light toning not affecting the signature. The letter contains some scattered creases and expected intersecting folds.
