Wanted Posters

Original vintage double-sided Wanted Posters, affixed to a slightly larger album page. Poster on front reads: "$200 Reward / Wanted for Grand Larceny / Rev. Cortland Harry Livingstone, alias Harry Cortland, alias Harry Livingstone...," posted by "C. G. Stovall, / Sheriff of Douglas County / Tuscola / Illinois."

Two smaller fliers affixed to verso, the first offering "$100 Reward" for an "Escaped" convict "From Kansas State Penitentiary, Lansing, Kansas, Feb. 28 1911 / No. 3451-John Doe, No. II"; the second, a "$25.00 Reward...for John Balsamo on charge of embezzlement...," posted by "J. J. Donahue, / Chief of Police / Omaha, Neb. March 20, 1911."

Official stamp of the "Office Chief of Police, San Francisco, Cal," impressed two of the fliers, dated March 1911.

From the collection of Police Chief Michael Webb (1950-2009). Webb joined the Vinita Park, Missouri police force in 1974 and served until his death in 2009, during which time he purchased crime artifacts from relatives of criminals and law officers. Boasting more than 8,000 wanted posters, pieces of Webb’s collection have been featured in film and displayed at the National Crime and Punishment Museum in Washington.

Measuring approximately 10 x 12, poster exhibits the expected toning, age wear, some tearing and rippling.
