19th Century Rome, Loggia of Raphael, vintage albumen photograph of The Loggia of Raphael, a setting of the second floor of the Apostolic Palace, in Vatican City, adjacent to the rooms and part of the complex of the Lodge. It is famous for a series of frescoes of the school of Raphael reproducing decorations with biblical stories and grotesque, dated between the end of 1517 or in 1518 and 1519.
Measures approximately 8 x 10 inches; affixed to a larger cardstock page for a finished size of 10.75 x 13.75 inches. Seemingly removed from a binding; edges are gold gilded with binding trace on the left hand or top edge (depending on how page is viewed). Verso is blank and clean. In very good condition with light signs of wear and handling.
